The daring duo known as Swing Out Sister adapted to the changing dynamic of popular music by aging gracefully into the new millennium. Most have perhaps placed the band consisting of lead singer/songwriter Corinne Drewery and keyboardist/composer Andy Connell onto the ballot with the "one-hit wonders" of music’s past, especially because of their tirelessly infectious 1987 hit single "Breakout" - but it’s still rather sounding and especially "fabulous at forty" in their latest release "Private View."

Celebrating their 25th year of recording together, Swing Out Sister delivers a contemporary representation of the signature jazz-tinged pop that made them so popular on the 10 tracks featured on "Private View." The acoustic arrangements of the songs are more textured in their instrumentations living up to today’s more layered sounds. The band presents some of their most memorable hits including "Breakout" and "Am I the Same Girl?" as well as a few lesser known tracks from their recording history.

Nonetheless "Private View" is a refreshing blend of hits and also a proper introduction to an entirely new audience ready to embrace Swing Out Sister’s uniquely soulful melodies. The rich instrumentation doesn’t distract from the serenity of each song’s winning vocals. This is a plentiful and worthwhile look into one of the music industry’s still relevant musicians.

The special "Souvenir Edition" includes a DVD "Tokyo Stories" with a live performance of the band performing its greatest hits during a visit to Billboard Live Tokyo. The live set includes some favorites not appearing on the CD. The live rendition of the hit "Twilight World" is an easy reminder of why Drewery’s creamy vocals synched the band on the eclectic pop/lounge scene of the emerging 90’s. Other stand-out performances include a smooth ballad version of "Breakout" with a stripped down instrumental arrangement.

DVD bonus features include a look at Swing Out Sister in the studio with commentary from the band detailing their musical journey and the creative process indicative to maintaining their momentum after 25 years. An additional treat is the short film/music video "Opium Kiss" shot in Tokyo.

This special release also includes a photo essay and journal crafted by the lead singer of the band and serves as a nice valentine to the friends and fans they’ve made 25 years into their music legacy.
