Eye Candy :: TitanMen’s Marco Wilson
The irreverently charming Marco Wilson is modest about the steamrolling popularity he’s been experiencing since coming into the adult film arena...but make no mistake, even though it was pure happenstance that led him into the limelight Wilson has grand designs to make the most of his sexy and beefed up celebrity status.
"I started in 2009," the happily candid Wilson tells me. "There was a magazine interview in the ’Gay Times’ here in the UK. I didn’t think I would ever fit that sort of profile - you usually always see these big guys, and I was actually quite skinny back then." But it was at the behest of his boyfriend that he filled out the questionnaire to participate in a new talent competition. "I took some crappy Polaroids - in a suit."
Lost contest, but got a contract
Wilson was entering a contest for ManAtPlay, the UK based studio which has popularized the business-suit-as-a-fetish look. And among its mostly British crowd of rugged blokes, the half-Malaysian Marco Wilson’s darkly handsome good looks stood out.
"I didn’t win - but they signed me up with an exclusive contract." And his cavalier attitude and buoyant nature immediately endeared him to a new and growing fan base.
"It’s been a real confidence booster," Wilson says with a grin.
Don’t put baby in the corner
He jockeyed for everyone’s attention when he was enviously partnered with MenAtPlay’s hottest commodity Alex Marte in the appropriately entitled "Non Capisco." Although unique, the experience wasn’t one of Wilson’s crowning achievements.
"It’s not his fault," he comments, but it was very hard connecting (figuratively) to Marte because of the language barrier. "There wasn’t much communication." From the audiences’ perspective things seemed to have worked out just fine, just one of the remarkable joys of movie making.
"You don’t put baby in a corner." - is a fittingly winning expression that best describes Wilson’s own aspirations and adult industry expectations. He joins the growing number of marketing entrepreneurs angling to turn their porn careers into a successful brand. "I know this game doesn’t last forever," he says conscious of the existing shelf life present in the adult film market.
Making a name for himself
"I think I’m making a name for myself." Wilson was just recently signed to one of the US’s biggest gay adult film production studios exclusively. He’s already starred in two films for TitanMen - box cover exposure for the popular films "Sting" and "Speechless" - both shot in the studio’s new HD format. Wilson’s never looked so good and come a long way since his "slimmer days" with MenAtPlay. "I do want to make something out of this - I want to be a star in this world."
Signing with TitanMen and already moving up the charts as one of their most sought after acts mean a lot to this ambitious provocateur. "When you get into the US market...it’s a big deal."
To promote his work with TitanMen Marco Wilson will be part of the upcoming San Francisco Folsom Street Fair in September. It will be his first time part of the leather fest, and he’s getting himself in tip-top shape. "In the UK everyone’s a little more slender and toned," he says. "I knew I wasn’t going to crack it in American if I didn’t beef up." Fans will have an opportunity to see him in the flesh.
It won’t be all fun and fairgrounds for Wilson when he hits Folsom. There will be some work involved - and he wants to make it clear: porn is work! "I don’t want to ruin it for anybody- but it’s literally like 6 or 7 hour days and we try to get the best out of it." He understands that the fantasy world they are creating is very important to the viewer. "And we do have to do retakes." Which for some of us normal folks may not sound like a chore.
Connecting with his fans
Wilson also admits he enjoys himself greatly while on set. And among some of the more memorable moments he’s already shared in his still evolving career, he cites an upcoming pairing with Dario Beck, also a TitanMan.
"He’s such a funny guy," Wilson shares. "We got on so well. We hit it off and laughed on set - some people take it [porn] so seriously - I’m so nothing like that."
With a whole new world to conquer Marco Wilson is positioning himself to become an adult industry heavyweight and with his talent and stamina, he’s guaranteeing himself certain career longevity.
"I’d like to make something back from all this," he says. Wilson does entertain the idea of perhaps pursuing a career beyond the lens. He wouldn’t mind seeing where it could take him; and directing as well as producing could be in his future.
"And I’d love to do some traveling too," he enthuses, "and do it properly, not flip-floppy like and stay in hostels."
Wilson also relishes the correspondence he has created between himself and his fans. "I’ve gotten emails from Asia and fans who live in countries where it’s very difficult for gays to come out, and it’s nice that they confide in me. I like to be as supportive as possible."
Marco Wilson connects with his public through the conventional social media, but has also mounted his own web presence including a blog to let his public in on the action.
Curious to know what’s behind those dark features and smoldering eyes? Marco Wilson is proving that personality is what makes this TitanMan all the more desirable and an actively shameless part of our wildest dreams.
